TRANSITION TO OUTSIDE OF CHAPEL
All stand, military in uniform face casket and come to attention. Guests remain
standing in Chapel until family is positioned outside next to casket. Military
headgear required outside.

FIRING SALUTE
Military in uniform face casket and render salute. Civilian men should remove
their hat, place over heart, and stand at attention.
The three volleys of rifles originated in ancient times to scare away evil spirits.
Today, they are thought of as the final tribute to the military member.

TAPS
Military in uniform face casket and render salute. Civilian men should remove
their hat, place over heart, and stand at attention.
"Taps," the last bugle call heard at night, symbolizes the beginning of a last, long sleep.
Important, but unexpressed, is confidence in the ultimate reveille to come.

FOLD FLAG AND PRESENTATION TO SPOUSE
Military at attention.
Senior officer does not return salute, symbolizing enduring tribute of honor and
respect for the fallen comrade-in-arms.

FLYOVER
Military stand at ease. F-117s provided by the 49th Fighter Wing, 7th Fighter
Squadron, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico
Tactical formation, less one aircraft, symbolizes the missing pilot.

SECURING CASKET TO CAISSON
Military in uniform face casket and render salute.
